Can Money Grow On Trees? Maybe if it's an NFT!

Sometimes you just have to surrender to the tide of where life is taking you and let go of all your pre-conceived notions of what works, what doesn’t work and what you “need to be doing” in order to thrive and be even more fully self expressed.
February - my birthday month - I gave myself permission to INVEST in my art. This required some significant STOCKING UP of art making materials and in particular watercolor supplies. Throughout the month there were incoming packages containing a variety of papers (including BLACK!), new tubes of watercolor pigment (my supply on hand was almost 20 years old!), brush pens (a NEW tool that ROCKS SOCKS!) and other various and sundry accoutrements to enhance the experience of producing my version and vision of ART.
I got ON A ROLL and started pretty quickly churning out at least one if not two pieces a day. Experimenting with different papers, futzing around with colors, and diving in to the delight of brush pens. I am NOT a “trained” fine artist. Art comes THROUGH me and that initiated for me back in 2001 during the year of my initial spiritual awakening.
Art creation, for me REQUIRES two things….
1) ABSOLUTE SURRENDER
2) SUPPLIES ON HAND
Kind of a feminine/masculine dance there - without the supplies on hand that provide resources and structure (paper, pens, paint) - I’m not going to be able to express myself. Without the absolute surrender then nothing is coming through either. Can I FORCE IT? Sure I suppose I can make myself go down to the studio and crank out something. But is it of value? Is it worthy? Is the pursuit of production in service?
Not by a long shot.
In fact what I have found is in the “FORCING” of a piece of art I’m left feeling drained, broken and deeply disappointed with the results - almost ashamed. As if I have stolen from myself, raped the muse, dishonored the relationship with the creative impetus of all that is - that impetus which is MYSTERIOUS.
Time literally STANDS STILL for this impetus. I can be “gone” for hours at a time in the realms of the infinite. I can also find at the end of a ferocious flow that I am quite literally emptied out of all inspiration - because it’s simply come through in all it’s fullness and the surge is now complete.
February and into March, time has been standing still in my studio and a whole lot of TREE PEOPLE have been emerging from my brushes and pens. As the “art bug” bit I have also been immersed in the playground that is CLUBHOUSE! There, in addition to hosting my own rooms where I have been speaking on the topic of Prospering With Podcasting, I have stumbled into the most amazing rooms - rooms filled with gallerists, collectors & Artists of every stripe and form of expression - a PLAYGROUND for Creators to connect and share/expose & even sell their creations has been opened up and I am so grateful!
I’ve also learned in the Clubhouse about NFT’s - a Non-Fungible Token - which the way I understand it is a digital “spot” on the block chain that is unable to be replicated - and which people in the crypto space in particular are now jumping on to collect and create “crypto art” (art that features crypto currency - like the BTC Tree NFT pictured above), digital art (video, gifs, performance pieces, illustrations, punks, etc. etc.) and a smattering of fine art where fine artists are digitizing and NFT’ing their original pieces of work and selling them to people who buy using cryptocurrency.
In the spirit of EXPERIMENTATION and pushing my own edges I decided to go ahead and start my own NFT gallery online and post one of my pieces in two different forms - the original watercolor NFT is still for sale - the BTC Tree I made as a mashup of the watercolor and the bitcoin symbol in Canva - and experimented with putting that up in an auction that lasted 3 days and expired on International Women’s Day. I have yet to experience a sale in this space - however I know for certain there can’t be a sale without SHOWING UP in the space - so here I am!
