[Poetry] Undone

Undone

The laundry sits in its blue basket

dripping socks over the rim

like drizzles of caramel

run down the sides of a sundae

Papers scattered across the desk

calling to be attended to

RIGHT NOW

so that the creditors are kept at bay

and the lights stay on for another day

The bed a rumble tumble mess of sheets

twisted together with blankets covering

the pillows that carried sleepy heads

to dreamland last night

And she turns and faces the mirror to see

her unmade up face and unwashed hair

as the tiny lines look like they have carved

their way deeper into skin that once was

smooth and dewy moist

In the days before all this became her focus

and she began to obsess about all that

surrounds her and is still…..

undone.
